The Grill Dust Story

In 1992 I began cooking for several charity organizations, which included Churches, civic organizations, and athletic booster clubs.  While cooking for these events, we were always pushed for time and unable to marinate our meat to flavor it.  We would use a seasoning which a cooking partner and friend had come up with which had the following ingredients:  salt, black pepper, garlic power, red pepper, chile powder and Accent.  Experimenting with the different amounts of these ingredient, I came up with the right ratio in 1997.  At that time I would make up a batch to cook with and also give away to friends and family.  The more I gave away, the more people wanted to use it.  It wasn’t until 2002 that a friend called and asked if I would send him some of that “grilling dust”.  A light went off and the name Grill Dust came into being.  Since then a company out of Memphis, Tennessee is currently manufacturing Grill Dust for me.  My sales have mainly been local but with the help of the internet we can let others enjoy this great seasoning
